How Technology Expands our Personal Learning Network

When I think about my Personal Learning Network the first three things that come to my mind is work, school, and friends.

In a nutshell I see a Personal Learning Network as a way of describing the group of people that you connect with to learn their ideas, questions, and reflections. In the past (prior to the internet), PLN’s have only been possible through face to face interactions. While this is great and all, technology has made it possible to broaden our PLN in a big way!

We are living in what some people call the information age. I find this such unique time on earth. Technology like the internet has put us on a fast track if you will, for connecting with the people and their ideas that previously hasn’t been possible.

Because of this we are now able to connect with friends, family, and other like minded people and their ideas around the world. Not only do I find this fascinating but I also believe this to be important. Much like how the highway systems built in the 50’s and 60’s connected our communities here in the united states. The internet has helped us connect with people and broadened our Personal Learning Network.
